Smoke & Neon After Midnight

The city after midnight enters a completely different state.

Convenience stores are still lit.
The neon lights along the streets start to blur.
The wind carries a hint of damp air.

Many of the city's truest emotions often surface at this exact hour.

Someone has just finished work.
Someone is leaving a gathering.
And someone simply doesn't want to go home too early.

The night gives people a strange sense of freedom.
There aren't many explanations, and there isn't much purpose.

The people standing downstairs having a smoke are usually very quiet.
They might be thinking about something, or they might be thinking about nothing at all.

The smoke becomes distinct under the neon lights.
As the light passes through the air, the city seems to briefly slow down.

Some people prefer the day.
But there are others who only feel they truly belong to this city in the dead of night.
